How about we call today the ultimate day of giving? The result was a lot of smiles.

I’m Dave Thomas, and on Thursday, the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation made the largest donation in the history of amateur football in our province.

The Foundation announced a $ 1.8 million donation to Football Saskatchewan, which will enable them to purchase 1,000 helmets to be distributed throughout the province.

In addition, the contribution from the proceeds of Rider 50-50 sales continues to give opportunity and accessibility to football for kids around the province. Saskatchewan Roughriders CEO Craig Reynolds agrees.

“Yeah, it's massive because you're absolutely right, and I go back to today's announcement in terms of what it will do for football programs across Saskatchewan. I go back to what Jeff said in his remarks around making sure the game remains affordable, but I also go back to the support through the 50-50 again to an organization like Kidsport, who in particular provides access to kids to play football, and that's where our goal is for those who may not have the ability to play football to be able to register and play. So it's extremely important, like you said, Dave, and I think announcements like today really go a long way towards that.
