The Saskatchewan Roughriders have secured a big piece of their offensive line and a legendary Roughrider quarterback approves.
I’m Dave Thomas, and on Monday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders signed a contract extension with reigning West Division offensive lineman of the year, Logan Ferland. The move put a smile on the face of Darian Durant…
“Whenever you can secure your anchors up front, and especially the best linemen in the league it's huge. So, if I'm Trevor or any of the other quarterbacks on the staff, great job by J.O. (Roughriders Vice-President of Football Operations, Jeremy O’Day) for getting this deal done and locking him in and just making sure that one of the anchors of your offensive line is there for the future.”
Keeping the Melfort native at home is a big deal, according to Durant.
“Once these guys make it to the Riders' locker room, they can now go back to their high schools or their middle schools and talk to kids, and the kids can really relate to these guys because he was one of them. So you know, you dream big as a kid, and when you can see one of your own make it and he's able to play for your hometown team, then it's always good.”
