There is a new Commissioner in the Canadian Football League, and there is not much time to ease into the job.

I’m Dave Thomas, and the CFL has named Stewart Johnston the 15th Commissioner in League history… With the CFL draft around the corner and training camps set to open in a little over a month, there won’t be much time for him to ease into the job.

Another item on the to-do list will be collecting the fines that the league has imposed on four teams for exceeding the league’s salary cap. There has been a lot of attention paid to the B.C. Lions' $348,000 overage, but legendary Quarterback Darian Durant didn’t have a problem with the Leos' spending…

“It’s a Grey Cup year, Nathan Rorke's coming back and to have him and V.A. on the same team with both of them being paid like top-tier quarterbacks. You knew that they were pretty close to going over the salary cap. But like I said, he was going all in.”

“The Grey Cup was in Vancouver and you can't blame him, man. As a player, you would love to be playing for an owner who doesn't care about the cost and doesn't hold back any expenses and does everything it takes to win.”
