Brandon contacted us to ask Darian Durant about his thoughts on his backup quarterbacks over the years and whether he knew who would and wouldn’t cut it in the Canadian Football League. We posed his question to Darian Durant.
“First of all, with Drew Willey. I think Drew was a guy who had the potential to be a starter elsewhere. If I had been older then, I would be more worried about my job. Drew came in and he just picked up on the game so well, he was a student of the game, and he had the physical abilities to go with it. Unfortunately, he suffered some injuries when he got to Winnipeg, but I definitely looked at Drew as a guy who could be a guy somewhere else in the league.”
Willy wasn’t the only former quarterback that Durant mentioned.
“As far as arm talent goes, I think Tino Sunseri and Chris Leak. Those are two of the guys, even though Chris Leak wasn't my actual backup, but just arm talent-wise, the way he and Tino could spin it, I've never seen anything like that before.”
