We all know that membership has its privileges, unless you're in the Jon Ryan household.
Ryan, a former Saskatchewan Roughrider, Winnipeg Blue Bomber, Seahawk, and Packer punter, will be part of the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame 2025 induction class.
“It wasn't necessarily something I was expecting, but you know, growing up as a kid taking field trips to the Hall of Fame and seeing guys like Gordie Howe and Mary Bonnie Baker, people like that, and now to be able to think that my name is going to be along theirs in that same hall is pretty humbling, pretty overwhelming.”
Ryan admitted that becoming a Hall of Famer is full circle for him.
“Just looking up to so many people in that building, maybe someday a kid will be able to walk in there and have a dream because of me, it's pretty humbling.”
Despite all of the accolades that come with being in the Hall of Fame, using that status to get out of vacuuming at home will likely not happen for Ryan.
“I haven't played that card yet, Dave, but now that you brought it up, I think I might have to play it when I get home. Now that you bring it up, that's something I want to talk to my wife about when I get home, and I'm going to give her your number and name as well once she gets mad at me for that.”
