EDMONTON -- The Prince Albert Raiders have forced Game 7 in their Western Hockey League Eastern Conference quarter-final series with the Edmonton Oil Kings.
And in the most dramatic of fashions, at that.
Lukas Dragicevic scored a power play goal with 53 seconds remaining in regulation and the Raiders would go on to a 4-3 victory in Game 6 of the best-of-seven series in Edmonton on Sunday afternoon.
As a result, the series is now tied at three games apiece, with the deciding contest set for Tuesday in Prince Albert.
Edmonton got things started in Game 6 when Marshall Finnie scored the lone goal of the first period with 2:14 remaining in the frame, but Aiden Oiring would get that back for the Raiders with the only goal of the second period at the 8:34 mark.
That set up a final frame, and it looked early like the Raiders were going to pull away for a comfortable win.
Rilen Kovacevic -- who won the WHL title with Moose Jaw last season -- scored his third of the series only 58 seconds into the third, and Oiring picked up his second of the game with 6:19 gone.
Rylen Roersma would get Edmonton back within one only 23 seconds after Kovacevic’s marker, though, and Landon Hanson would tie things up a minute after that goal.
That set the stage for Dragicevic’s game-winner. With Josh Mori in the box after taking a hooking minor with 1:03 to play, Dragicevic would set up at the point, pass off to Kovacevic on his wing, and wire home the return feed to give the Raiders the victory.
Kovacevic would finish with four points on the night.
Max Hildebrand turned aside 30 shots to earn the victory for Prince Albert, Ethan Simcoe stopped 19 for Edmonton.
Game 7 is now set for Tuesday night in Prince Albert, with puck drop at 7 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre.
