A glance at the calendar says it’s April 7th, and that means that in one month, today, first-year Riders will be on the turf for day one of rookie camp at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon.
The excitement is building as we head towards the Saskatchewan Roughriders training camp. The Riders announced last week that the team would once again hold camp in Saskatoon. For Riders vice president of football operations and general manager Jeremy O’Day, he still remembers his first training camp in Saskatoon.
“When I went out on the field, I remember how many mosquitoes were biting me. We practiced on grass, and back then they used to test us. We had to do running tests and things like that. We don't do that anymore. It was nice, it was a lot different. The parkade was just a parking lot at the time, and again, we practiced on the grass and we didn't have the nice turf to play on.”
