UNITY - The UCHS Warriors began their season with many returning curlers and a couple of fresh faces.

One of these fresh faces is Lauren Gartner, a brand-new coach helping out with the curling teams. With a projection of three junior teams, the addition of Coach Gartner will be extremely beneficial.

Coach Kyla Snell expressed how excited she is for the season.

“We have a great group signed up, and I’m excited to see their skills develop.”

The Warriors are preparing to host the provincial mixed championship on March 7 and 8, along with mixed and doubles regionals. Snell said that “preparations for provincials will begin soon with the creation of a committee to ensure we make it memorable for the participants. We will be promoting the event within the community and the school.”

She also mentioned that they will be searching for sponsorship opportunities to make uniforms for the athletes. The team will continue practicing hard, with exhibition games scheduled to be played in 2025.
