Yorkton Terriers clinch SJHL playoff spot with victory over La Ronge Ice Wolves

The Terriers join Melfort, Flin Flon and Weyburn as the teams to clinch a SJHL playoff spot

ICE WOLVES 1, TERRIERS 3

The Yorkton Terriers got goals from Jye Zawatsky and David Coyle just 42 seconds apart early in the third period as they earned a 3-1 victory over the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Tuesday night to clinch a SJHL playoff spot.

Aiden Meintz opened the scoring for the Ice Wolves just over two minutes into the first period, before Vinak Junek tied it up with an unassisted marker in the second period.

Callun Creig stopped 27 of 28 shots to earn the victory for the Terriers who won their sixth straight to pull one point ahead of the Weyburn Red Wings for the Viterra division lead.

The Terriers return to action on Friday night hosting the Flin Flon Bombers before welcoming the Ice Wolves again on Saturday on “Ed Zawatsky Jersey Retirement Night.”

Zayden Sadlemyer and Reilly Kotai both netted hat-trick to lead the league-leading Melfort Mustangs to a 8-6 road victory over the Battlefords North Stars.

Jordan Grill led the way for the North Stars with two goals.
