Despite trailing at the half, the Saskatchewan Rush pulled off a 16-13 win against the Calgary Roughnecks on Friday night in the Saddledome.
Ryan Keenan opened the scoring followed up by Mike Messenger in the first quarter as the Rush jumped out to a 4-3 lead. Adam Jay and Austin Shanks found the back of the net in the first frame also.
Shanks, Keenan and Zach Manns buried in the second half, but Saskatchewan felt themselves down 9-7 at the half.
The Rush found a new gear in the second half, with Levi Anderson, Jake Boudreau and Robert Church brought the game to a 10-10 tie heading into the final quarter.
Saskatchewan finished strong after Holden Garlent and Brock Haley put the road team up 12-11, but it was Church, Keenan and Boudreau who sealed the deal, giving the Rush a 16-13 win over the Roughnecks.
Austin Shanks, Ryan Keenan and Robert Church all finished the game with seven points. Frank Scigliano made 33 saves in his first game back after the birth of his first child.
The Saskatchewan Rush are back on Co-op Field tomorrow when the Rochester Knighthawks come to SaskTel Centre for a 7:00PM start.
