MOOSE JAW -- The Moose Jaw Warriors will pick second overall in the Western Hockey League U.S. Priority Draft in May.
And with the changing landscape of NCAA players being able to play in the Canadian Hockey League and maintain their college eligibility, that could see an elite player joining the team this fall.
Each of the six non-playoff teams and eight teams that lost in the first round of the playoffs received one ball in the lottery.
The Brandon Wheat Kings will select first overall, while the Saskatoon Blades will have the seventh pick, Regina Pats the 12th pick, Swift Current Broncos the 13th pick and Prince Albert Raiders the 22nd pick.
Teams will then select in inverse order during the second round of the U.S. Priority Draft.
Earlier Thursday, the Pats won the WHL Prospects Draft lottery and the right to select Pat Canadians standout Maddox Schultz in the first round next month.
The first round of the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft takes place on Wednesday, May 7 at 5 p.m., followed by the U.S. Priority Draft on Thursday, May 8 at 9 a.m. and the remainder of the Prospects Draft immediately following.
