YORKTON - After an overtime loss in Nipawin the Yorkton Terriers climbed on the team bus and headed farther north for a Saturday SJHL meeting with the Flin Flon Bombers.

The Bombers were not gracious hosts, taking a 2-0 lead with the only goals of the first period. Koen Senft and Wyatt Stinton scored the goals.

In the middle frame a powerplay goal by David Coyle at 2:02 and an even-strength effort by William Leonard at 6:14 and things were knotted 2-2.

Then things went decidedly the home team’s way.

Rhett Ewen scored as 9:12 and then in less than five minutes Keefe Gruener, Leighton Carruthers and Carter Cormier had scored and the Bombers were up 6-2 through 40-minutes of action.

Jye Zawatsky would add a powerplay goal for the Terriers in the third period, but that would be it as Flin Flon recorded a 6-3 win.

Callum Creig took the loss in the Terrier net facing 43-shots, while Matthew Kieper backstopped the Bombers to the win facing 41.

Following the two-game road swing the Terriers sit with a 13-9-1 record and 27 points, third in the SJHL Viterra Division one point back of Weyburn and two behind Melville who lead the way with 29 points. Estevan sits fourth with 21 points.

The Terriers are back in action Tuesday heading to Wilcox to face the Notre Dame Hounds.
