Wheat Kings shine in Kerrobert, defeat Stars 9-2

KERROBERT - The West Central Wheat Kings continued their season in Kerrobert, playing the North West Stars on Oct. 20. The Stars took the early lead in the first period, with the Wheat Kings scoring six straight unanswered goals, three of which were on the powerplay, by Deegan German, Grayden Ewson, Chase Weinkauf, Connor Sittler and Tyce Perkins.

This led to a commanding 6-1 lead to start the final period. The third period had another goal for the Stars, scored by Nathan Lepp.

The Wheat Kings then proceeded to score three more times by Perkins, Carson Kraft and Hudson Bretzer.

Goalie Noah Gumpinger had an amazing game, stopping 21 shots, along with Nash Sperle having a 3-point game, all being assists.

This win came with a total of 11 penalties and brought the Wheat Kings record to 4-2-0-0-0, good for a fourth place in their conference. They next play the Parkland Elks in Shellbrook Oct. 25.
