UNITY – Two local senior boys volleyball teams will be on the road once again, hoping to claim their division’s provincial title at the Nov. 22 and 23 tournaments.
The McLurg Broncos will not have to travel far as Lashburn and Hillmond will be sharing the hosting duties for the 2A division. The Broncos went undefeated at regionals, with the game against Lashburn being a nail bitter. It was the only game that went to a third set for the Broncos, with a loss in the first set at 19-25. The boys made a comeback in the second set, seeing the previous score reversed and the final set score at 15-13. With Lashburn having home field advantage, the Broncos are set to face them and teams from Langenburg, Hepburn and Kincaid at provincials.
In the 3A division, the Unity Warriors are preparing to travel to Esterhazy for their provincial tournament. They also went undefeated at their regional tournament in Clavet, with all their games ending after two sets. The gold medal game against the home team had an exciting first set, with Unity taking the win at 27-25. Clavet was unable to get the points in the second set, ending the game with a score of 25-11 for Unity. Unity will face off against teams from Carnduff, Oxbow, Rosthern and Osler.
