Highlights: Estevan Bruins lose twice in La Ronge

The Bruins were outscored 14-2 in the two games against La Ronge.

The Estevan Bruins faced the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Saturday night.

LA RONGE - The Estevan Bruins' annual two-game trip to La Ronge did not go well. 

The Bruins dropped two straight against the La Ronge Ice Wolves, losing 10-1 on Friday and 4-1 on Saturday.

Reed Gramlich opened the scoring 41 seconds into Friday's game for Estevan, but La Ronge took over from there, tying the game 11 seconds later, and holding leads of 4-1 after the first period and 9-1 through two.

Cole Thomas and Connor Frost each had a goal and three assists for La Ronge. Mason Bueckert scored twice and added a helper, and Nathan Da Silva, Hudson Cameron, Zane Normand, David Vitt, Seth Dragan and Rylan Silzer also scored.

Benjamin Polhill and Jacob Morris each allowed five goals for the Bruins. Graham Brown stopped 28 shots for La Ronge, who outshot Estevan 46-29. 

The following night, the two teams were scoreless until midway through the second period, when Kieran Ronan scored on a power play to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. Jacob Cosette tied the game for the Ice Wolves a few minutes later.

Da Silva put the Ice Wolves ahead 85 seconds into the third, Normand added to the lead with a short-handed goal a few minutes later, and Vitt finished the scoring.

Polhill stopped 38 of the 42 shots he faced, while Graham Brown made 24 saves for La Ronge.

The Bruins (5-9-2-1) will host the Battlefords North Stars on Nov. 22 and 23. Both games will start at 7 p.m. The game on Nov. 23 will be the Bruins' annual Teddy Bear Toss game; fans will toss bears and other stuffed animals on the ice after the Bruins score their first goal of the game.
