ESTEVAN - The Eagle Sky Estevan Bruins took care of one last order of business for the 2024-25 season when they handed out their year-end awards on March 17.
Ewan Rennie was the big winner, as he took home three honours: Most Valuable Player, Top Scorer and Iron Man Awards; the latter goes to the player who appears in the most games. Rennie finished 11th in the SJHL in points with 54 during the regular season, thanks to 18 goals and 36 assists in 56 games. He had 20 points in his final 14 games.
Rorey Elson also won three awards. He took home the Mr. Hustle Award and the Bruin Training Staff's Heart Award for his effort, and he shared the Mark Cross Ethics Award with Hayden Pimm.
Pimm also won the Community Involvement Award, a recognition that had been announced earlier in the season.
Kaelen Whittingham, who is one of seven graduating players on the Bruins, was named the team's top defenceman and the Abe Berday Most Scholastic Player. Whittingham finished tied for third for points by a defenceman this season with 42.
Other award winners were Luke Hogan (Rookie of the Year), Chase Holt (Rocky Award for most aggressive player), Ethan Andrews (most underrated), Carter Onrait (most improved), Kade Stringer (most sportsmanlike) and Brady Wilson (most popular).
