Football: Huskies vs. University of Alberta Golden Bears

In a game that featured 63 points put up on the scoreboard, the University of Saskatchewan held onto defeat the University of Alberta at home 33-30.

In the first half, the Huskies had touchdowns from a pair of running backs as Ryker Frank and Kody Gutek. However, it was the Golden Bears who lead it 20-14 at halftime.

In the third quarter, both defences played very well limiting the only scoring in the quarter to a two-point safety by Alberta, who went into the final quarter leading 22-14.

The visitors added to their lead early in the last quarter on an eight-yard receiving touchdown to Cody Peever to make it 29-14, but then the Huskies started a comeback.

With the score 30-14 after a Bears' rouge, Frank ran it in from seven yards for his second touchdown of the game to cut the lead to 10 as the Huskies failed on the convert. Then Ercy Avul hauled in a 10-yard touchdown pass from Anton Amundrud to make it 30-27. Lucas Scott followed that up with a 21-yard field goal and with under a minute remaining, another field goal, from 47 yards out to give the Huskies the come from behind victory 33-30.

Both teams are 2-3 in the Canada West. The next game for the Huskies is on Friday, October 4 when Saskatchewan hosts the University of Manitoba Bisons at 7p.m. at Griffiths Stadium.

Women's soccer: Huskies @ University of Alberta Pandas

The Huskies women's soccer team was in Edmonton to face the Pandas and after all was said and done this one ended in a 0-0 tie. Saskatchewan slightly out shot the opposition 16-11. 

With the tie, the Huskies record improves to 4-1-1 in Saskatchewan's first six games this season.

Men's soccer: Huskies @ MacEwan University Griffins

The men's team played the first of their two games in Edmonton on Saturday versus MacEwan University. Thanks to Malcolm Rektor scoring his first goal of the season, the Huskies held onto beat the Griffins 1-0. With the win the Huskies record improved to 3-7-0.

Women's soccer: Huskies @ MacEwan Griffins

In the Huskies second game in Edmonton, Saskatchewan suffered their second loss of the season, 2-0 was the final. The Griffins had goals from Alyx Henderson and Sophie Lavallee to guide them to the victory. The Huskies record drops to 4-2-1. 

Next weekend, the Huskies women's team will host the University of Calgary Dinos on Saturday and then on Sunday host the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. Both games start at noon at Griffiths Stadium.

Men's soccer: Huskies @ University of Alberta Golden Bears

In the second game for the Huskies men's team, Saskatchewan visited the campus of the University of Alberta to face the Golden Bears. And on this day the home team looked like a squad that only has one loss in 10 games this season. Alberta out shot the Huskies 17-3 on route to a 2-0 victory.

Next weekend the Huskies men's team has one game as Saskatchewan hosts the Pronghorns on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium.
