The Ottawa Redblacks have named Jeremiah Masoli the starter at quarterback for the team's game in Saskatchewan on Saturday, according to head coach Bob Dyce.

Dru Brown was injured during Ottawa's loss to the Montreal Alouettes in Week 16. Masoli has dressed for eight games this season. He's completed 57-of-80 passes (71 percent) for 655 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing four times for 25 yards.

Masoli's last visit to Regina was in 2022 when Garrett Marino broke his leg in multiple places during Week 5 which ended his season. His recovery was slowed due to an infection while recovering from surgery. That caused him to miss the first three games in 2023 and then he suffered a ruptured Achilles in Week 5, his first game back from the broken leg. The 36-year-old rehabbed from the Achilles to return to the active roster in late July.

The San Francisco native has completed 66 percent of his passes for 17,330 yards with 86 touchdowns and 56 interceptions over 121 career regular season games with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Ottawa.

The Riders host the Redblacks on Saturday afternoon at Mosaic Stadium. Countdown to Kick-off begins with a chance to watch Justin Dunk and Wes Cates at 10 a.m. on YouTube. Luc Mullinder and I will join at 12 p.m. with the kick-off to follow at 1 p.m. on the Co-operators Roughrider Radio Network.
