78 percent chance Saskatchewan Roughriders host home playoff game in 2024

The Saskatchewan Roughriders reaching the postseason is all but a certainty according to Keith Willoughby, Edwards School of Business Dean at the University of Saskatchewan.

If the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and B.C. Lions beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Calgary Stampeders in Week 18, Saskatchewan can clinch a postseason spot by winning against the Elks.

In his latest CFL computer simulations, the Riders have a 99 percent shot at making the playoffs, up from 94 percent one week earlier. The Green and White are a good bet to host a playoff game with a 78 percent likelihood the Western Semi-Final is played at Mosaic Stadium.

Willoughby's model projects Saskatchewan to finish second in the West Division with a 9-8-1 record. The Riders still have a 10 percent chance to win the 2024 Grey Cup, unchanged from one week earlier.

Saskatchewan travels to Edmonton to take on the Green and Gold on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium. Countdown to Kick-off begins with Justin Dunk and Wes Cates at 2 p.m. Luc Mullinder and I will join at 4 p.m. with the kick-off to follow at 5 p.m. on the Co-operators Roughrider Radio Network.
