The defending champion Melfort Mustangs are one step closer to another SJHL title.

The Mustangs advanced to the Canterra Seeds Cup Final after a 3-1 victory over the Yorkton Terriers on Wednesday night to complete the four-game sweep of their Semi-Final series.

Reilly Kotai’s penalty shot goal with 10:35 left in regulation stood up to be the game winner after Terriers’ 20 year old forward Tate Schofer tied the game early in their third period.

Zac Somers and Nic Andrusiak also scored for the Mustangs who got 18 saves on 19 shots from netminder Kristian Coombs.

Ethan Farrow got the start for the Terriers and made 19 saves in his final Junior game.

This will be the second straight trip for the Mustangs to the league’s championship series.
