Melville Millionaires snap winless skid after shutout win over the Estevan Bruins

Five games across the SJHL on Saturday with scoring at a premium

Ben Laurette had a debut to remember for the Melville Millionaires.

Laurette stopped all 22 shots he faced in a 2-0 win over the Estevan Bruins at the CN Community Centre.

Leo Jewitt and Ryan Roethke scored the goals for the Moneymen who earned their 14th win of the season.

Benny Polhill stopped 26 shots for Estevan in the loss.

The Millionaires play their final game before the Christmas break on Wednesday night on the road against the Notre Dame Hounds. GX94 will broadcast the game with the pregame starting at 7:20 PM and play-by-play kicking off at 7:30 PM.


Elsewhere in the SJHL:

The Melfort Mustangs captured their 12th straight game after 5-2 win over the Humboldt Broncos. Ashton Hutchinson (2G 1A) and Zac Somers (3A) with three points each for Melfort.

The Kindersley Klippers rebounded in Assiniboia on Saturday night with a 4-2 victory over the Weyburn Red Wings. Klips netminder Brett O’Halloran stopped 25 shots in the win.

Graham Brown turned aside 20 shots for his 1st SJHL shutout to lead the La Ronge Ice Wolves with a 3-0 triumph over the Nipawin Hawks.

Rylan Williams scored 3:20 into overtime to help the Battlefords North Stars snap Flin Flon’s 10 game winning streak with a 3-2 win.
