Melville Millionaires capture tenth straight victory to clinch SJHL playoff berth

All winners on Friday night scored five or more goals in a busy 5 game schedule

MILLIONAIRES 5, RED WINGS 2

Gaborik Carlson, Noah Belles-Isles and Simon Parini each had one goal, one assist each to lead the Melville Millionaires to a tenth straight win, a 5-2 decision over the Weyburn Red Wings at Crescent Point Place.

Will Forsberg and Raine Hodge also scored for the Moneymen, who got a 25 save performance from Nick Genette in the win as the Mils became the fifth SJHL club to clinch a playoff spot.

Blake Betson and Liam Fitzgerald replied for the Red Wings.

The Millionaires return to action Saturday night hosting the Humboldt Broncos at 7:00 PM from the CN Community Centre, while the Red Wings are back in action Tuesday against the Notre Dame Hounds.


BRONCOS 5, TERRIERS 3

Dazza Mitchell stopped 47 of 50 shots while Maddox Amaral scored twice as the Humboldt Broncos returned to the win column with a 5-3 road win over the Yorkton Terriers on Friday night.

Michael Dowdall, Cade Kennedy and Ryder Knutson also scored for the Broncos.

Tate Schofer scored twice for the Terriers to lead the way, while netminder Ethan Farrow made 31 saves on 36 shots in the loss.

The Terriers will look to snap their three game losing streak on Wednesday night when they return to action on Wednesday night visiting the league-leading Melfort Mustangs at the Northern Lights Palace.
