Yorkton Kinsmen Maulers earn home ice split

In action Sunday the teams traded two-goals apiece through 20-minutes of action. Jake Graves and Carter Moen scored for the Legionnaires with Tanner Wiens and Ryder Woods responding for the Kinsmen Maulers.

YORKTON - It was a weekend home stand split for the Yorkton Kinsmen Maulers against the Swift Current Legionnaires.

Game one of the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League (U18), was played Saturday evening with the visitors erupting for seven goals on their way to a 7-2 win.

The Legionnaires led 2-0 after 20-minutes of play on goals by Wesley Olson and Porter Nickason.

Things only got worse for the host Maulers as Swift Current added three unanswered goals in the middle stanza. The goals came from Keegan Nash, Kasey Gleim and Connor Rieger.

Mahlon Wiley finally put the Maulers on the board midway through the third with an unassisted effort, his first of the season.

Ryder Woods would record the other Mauler goal of the period.

Carter Moen and Nickason with his second completed the seven-goal outburst for Swift Current.

Reid Schweitzer took the loss in the Yorkton net facing 33-shots.

Cade Mitchell took the win facing 18-shots.

This time the teams traded two-goals apiece through 20-minutes of action.

Jake Graves and Carter Moen scored for the Legionnaires with Tanner Wiens and Ryder Woods responding for the Maulers.

In the second period Yorkton added three unanswered goals. Brady Simpson, Brodie Heimbecker and Layne McKechnie were the marksmen.

Jackson Fox added one for Swift Current to round out scoring in the 5-3 home side win.

Connor Bender was in net for the Legionnaires facing 25-shots.

Casson Silbernagel was in net for Yorkton for the win facing 37-shots.
