WCBL East Division All-Stars named.

The WCBL all-stars are set to shine in Okotoks this weekend. The players have now been named.

The Western Canadian Baseball League is getting set for their all-star game this coming weekend in Okotoks, Alberta.

The East and West Division rosters will suit up at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks for a full slate of baseball festivities, including a home run derby, on Saturday, July 20th.

Monday the rosters for both teams were announced. On the East Division team, Moose Jaw leads the way with seven players selected. The division leading Regina Red Sox will send six to the game. While Saskatoon, Swift Current and Weyburn will send five players a piece.

Kevin Mitchell, the Head Coach of the Medicine Hat Mavericks, will manage team East Division. Here is a look at his roster:

CATCHERS

Diego Aragon – Regina Red Sox – from Colorado USA is batting .293 with 22 runs and 18 RBI.

Ontario's Nick Thibodeau – Medicine Hat Mavericks – from Ontario is batting .355 with 22 runs and 36 RBI.

Marcus Graham – Swift Current 57’s – from Australia is batting .322 with 16 RBI and 23 runs.

Halen Otte – Weyburn Beavers – currently playing with Whitman College has a .290 batting average and has 14 RBI in his first 22 games of the season.

 

INFIELDERS

Nathan Houston – Moose Jaw Miller Express – from Melville has a .389 batting average, 25 runs and 23 RBI in 33 games this summer.

Thomas Soto – Moose Jaw Miller Express – with a .313 batting average, 18 stolen bases and 39 runs over 32 WCBL contests.

Austin Gurney – Moose Jaw Miller Express – B.C. native in his third season with the Miller Express. Has 8 Home Runs, 40 RBI, 27 runs, eight steals and a .312 batting average.

Tyler Vanneste – Medicine Hat Mavericks – from Warman in 25 games has a .402 batting average, 25 runs and 17 RBI.

Marshall Burke – Medicine Hat Mavericks – a native of Texas has a .316 batting average, 26 runs and 21 RBI over 33 games.

Justin Carinci – Regina Red Sox – he’s batting .357 with 15 steals, 37 runs, 10 doubles and 22 RBI in 30 games.

Kody Hanna – Regina Red Sox – .370 average, 39 RBI, 21 runs, eight steals in 31 games.

Ethan Menard – Saskatoon Berries – through 31 games the Louisiana native has 30 RBI, 22 runs and a .333 batting average.

Demetrio Archuleta – Swift Current 57’s – in his 26 games he has 21 runs, 16 RBI and a .287 average.

Ryan Muizelaar – Weyburn Beavers – and is batting.326 with 22 RBI, four homers and seven steals in 30 contests.

 

OUTFIELDERS

Jackson Syring – Regina Red Sox – from Kansas is the league’s top hitter with a .429 batting average, 42 runs, 32 RBI, 11 doubles and five round trippers.

Carter Beck – Saskatoon Berries – originally from Carnduff is batting .391 with 38 runs, 26 RBI, seven homers and 10 stolen bases in 32 games played.

McGwire Turner – Saskatoon Berries – he is hitting .343 with 20 RBI and 19 runs in 25 games.

Kai Gray – Swift Current 57’s – he has 27 runs, 24 RBI and 15 steals over 32 WCBL contests.

Nate Mensik – Moose Jaw Miller Express – is a senior at Doane University. In his third season in the Friendly City he's scored 28 runs, compiled 26 RBI and smacked six homers in 32 games.

Jordan Phillips – Medicine Hat Mavericks – from Texas he is a junior at William Jewell College. In 33 games this season he has 37 runs, 32 RBI and a .361 batting average.

Niko Kekatos – Weyburn Beavers – has a.400 batting average and 14 runs in 24 contests.

 

PITCHERS

Ian Heck – Weyburn Beavers – from California as a hitter he has 20 RBI and 18 runs in 30 games. When he's worked as a starting pitcher, Heck has posted a 3.77 ERA and racked up 30 Ks over 31 innings.

Owen McConnell – Weyburn Beavers – currently playing at UBC the right-hander has 22 strikeouts over 36-plus innings with the Beavers.

Kenny Jinks – Swift Current 57’s – The southpaw is 2-3 with a 4.65 ERA and 51 Ks in 38-plus innings. One of his starts was an 18-strikeout performance earlier this season.

Klevert Martina – Swift Current 57’s – a native of Kanga, Curacao. He has 38 strikeouts and a pair of saves in 36 innings.

Nick Nolan – Saskatoon Berries – Hailing from Texas. He's 2-0 with a 3.53 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 28 frames.

Wyatt Wiatrek – Saskatoon Berries – Texas. He has made five starts and is 2-0 for the Berries with a 2.42 ERA and 26 Ks in 26 innings pitched.

Colton Anderson – Regina Red Sox – The lefty has gone 4-1 with a 2.82 ERA and 46 strikeouts over his 35 innings and six starts.

Daniel Crabtree – Regina Red Sox – In his second season with the Sox he is 3-2 with a 3.14 ERA and 32 Ks through 48-plus innings.

Takao Cookson – Moose Jaw Miller Express – From Regina he has a 3-1 record, a 2.76 ERA, three saves and nine strikeouts in his 13 innings of relief work.

Matt Vasquez – Moose Jaw Miller Express – he has worked as both a reliever and a starter, posting a 4-1 record with a 3.78 ERA and 29 Ks in 33-plus innings this season.

Jack Novak – Medicine Hat Mavericks – plays at Colorado State University. He is 4-0 with a 5.45 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 33 innings.

Jacob Petershiem – Medicine Hat Mavericks – plays at Colorado State University. His record is 2-0 with 26 Ks and a 3.02 ERA in 38-plus innings, most of them coming as a starter.

 

The WCBL All-Star Game and SR Bats Home Run Derby takes place at Seaman Stadium in Okotoks on Saturday, July 20th.

Autograph sessions will take place with former Major League Baseball (MLB) star Matt Stairs, several WCBL mascots will be in attendance, and the matchup will be followed by fireworks displays.
