Melfort Mustangs hold annual billet weekend

The Melfort Mustangs currently sit in first place in their division with away games on Tuesday and Friday this week.

17 families billet the players for the Melfort Mustangs for the 2024-2025 season. 

MELFORT – On Nov. 16 and 17, the Melfort Mustangs held their annual billet weekend.  

On Nov. 15, the Mustangs played against the Nipawin Hawkes with a 2 – 1 victory. During the intermissions on both Friday and Saturday, the Mustangs auctioned off several jerseys.  

On Saturday, Nov. 16, a pancake breakfast was held for the community and the billet parents at the curling rink. A Calcutta shootout was held and players were auctioned off that day. 

Nic Adrusiak claimed first place with Will Monro in second and Zack Turner in third. Kristian Cooms was the top goalie. 

Currently, there are 17 families who billet the players for the Melfort Mustangs. 

The weekend was also memorable for Ty Thornton as he hit his 100th career SJHL game, with all his games being played as a Mustang.  
The Mustangs face the Yorkton Terriers on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Westland Arena and then face the Kindersely Klippers on Friday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the Inter Pipeline Arena. 

The Melfort Mustangs are currently at the top of the SJHL in points and look to keep the momentum on their side with the mid-point of the season approaching. Logan Belton has eight goals and 14 assists for a total of 22 points and Reilley Kotai with nine goals and 11 assists for a total of 22 points and both sit at ninth and 10th in points for the season at the time the article was published.
