YORKTON - It was a good night for the powerplay units as the Melfort Mustangs visited the Yorkton Terriers Tuesday.

By game’s end three of the four goals scored at the Westland Insurance Arena were scored with someone in the sin bin.

The scoring started late in the opening frame with Zac Somers scoring on the powerplay at 16:47, and then Zayden Sadlemyer making it 2-0 with the only even strength marker of the game.

In the middle stanza the home side finally got on the ledger with an extra man effort from Thomas Ries at 16:44.

In the third the Mustangs rounded out their road win when Will Munro scored at 1:38, again on the powerplay.

The loss leaves Yorkton with a record of 25-16-1-0 for 51 points, and a hold on second place in the SJHL Viterra Division. Weyburn leads the way with 56 points, with Melville third with 47 points and Estevan in the basement with 34 points.

The Terriers did get some good news as well Tuesday as David Coyle was given the nod among the league’s monthly player award.

Coyle was announced as January’s Bourgault Forward of the Month.

In January he played 11 games in which he recorded six goals and had 11 assists for 17 points.
