ESTEVAN - A member of the Estevan Great North U18 AAA Bears has earned a prestigious award.

Defenceman Cameron Allard was recently presented with the Adam Herold Memorial Award as the top blue-liner in the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League. It's the first time a member of the Bears has garnered the recognition, although another defenceman, Thomas Ries, was selected as a league first-team all-star last season.

Allard, who is 17 but still has a year of U18 AAA eligibility remaining, finished the regular season with six goals and 30 assists in 44 games, helping the Bears make the playoffs for the second straight season. He added a goal and two assists in five postseason games.

He also appeared in 11 Western Hockey League games with the Brandon Wheat Kings.
