Eleven goals scored -- Yorkton marked a 1-0 forfeit win - then 7-4

YORKTON - The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League score ticker on their website notes today’s Yorkton Terriers game in Melville was a 1-0 ‘forfeit win’ for the visitors.

But clicking on the ‘game sheet’ and you find details on a game which saw 11 goals scored, seven by the Terriers.

And then within an hour it was back to a 7-4 win online.

Coming off a come-from-behind win in Yorkton Monday the Terriers started the scoring in the afternoon tilt New Year’s day Keenan Ingram scoring 2:40 into the game.

Liam Rodman knotted things 48-seconds later, and a powerplay goal by Edward Knittig edged the home side ahead at 6:28.

Goals by Jaron Desnoyers and Thomas Ries gave Yorkton a 3-2 lead through 20-minutes of play.

A powerplay effort from Simon Parini and an even strength one by Gaborik Carlson and the Mills were up 4-3.

Ingram responded for Yorkton and the Highway #10 rivals went to the dressing room after two periods deadlocked 4-4.

Jeff Hamond scored 5:31 into the third and Yorkton was ahead 5-4.

The Terriers added empty net efforts by Tylan Henrikson and Desnoyers rounding out an apparent 7-4 win – now posted as a 1-0 forfeit contest.

However the league officially marks it, the game was a seventh straight win for the Terriers. They sit atop the SJHL Viterra Division with an overall record of 20-9-1-0 for 41 points, five points up on second place Weyburn. Melville sits third with 33-points, with Estevan in the basement with 26.
