The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian receiver Colton Hunchak.
The five-foot-11, 212-pound Hunchak joins the Riders after having spent four seasons (2019-2023) with the Calgary Stampeders. The Stamps selected the Calgary, AB native in the eighth round, 74th overall during the 2019 CFL Draft. Over 35 CFL games, he's made 65 receptions for 606 yards.
During his time at York University from 2015 to 2018, Hunchak played four seasons and had a significant impact on the Lions' offence. He recorded 1,990 yards and scored 18 touchdowns in 27 games. In his senior year, Hunchak set a new record at York for the most receptions in a single season with 63 and also broke the program's career receptions record with 167. Throughout his U Sports career, he was honoured as an OUA second-team all-star twice (2016 and 2018) and received OUA all-rookie team recognition in his freshman year.
In a corresponding move, the team has released offensive lineman Tairiq Stewart.
