Saskatchewan Roughriders sign Canadian DL Benoit Marion

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed Canadian defensive lineman Benoit Marion. 

The six-foot-five, 250-pound Marion  joins the Riders after spending time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts this season, playing nine games and making six special teams tackles. 

The Montreal native was originally selected by the Alouettes in the third round, 25th overall during the 2020 CFL Draft. He signed with Argos in October of 2021 and played in 28 games for the Double Blue from 2021-2024, recording seven defensive tackles, 12 special teams tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles.

In 2022 against the Ticats, he scored his first career touchdown when recovering a blocked kick and returning it 24 yards to the end zone. Also in 2022, Marion won the Grey Cup when the Argos beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24-23 at Mosaic Stadium.

Marion played four seasons at University of Montreal from 2016 to 2019, appearing in 25 games. He recorded 67 career tackles, including 20 tackles for a loss and 11 sacks.

Saskatchewan travels to Edmonton as the Riders take on the Elks on Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium. Countdown to Kick-off begins with Justin Dunk and Wes Cates at 2 p.m. Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder join at 4 p.m. with the kick-off to follow at 5 p.m. on the Co-operators Roughrider Radio Network.
