The Saskatchewan Roughriders have re-signed defensive back Marcus Sayles to a two-year contract extension through the 2026 season.

Sayles joined the Riders in June 2024 after being released by the B.C. Lions.

In 2024, the 30-year-old Sayles from Manhattan, New York played 17 games with the Riders, registering 57 defensive tackles and two tackles for a loss. Additionally, he tied his career-high with four interceptions, one which produced a 54-yard touchdown. He added two fumble recoveries and 12 pass knockdowns, which was second-best in the CFL and fourth in Green and White single-season history.

Sayles’ performance in 2024 earned him his second All-CFL team selection of his career.

Prior to joining the Roughriders, Sayles spent three seasons in B.C. and two in Winnipeg, suiting up for 82 games where he recorded 294 tackles, 12 interceptions and four sacks while winning the 2019 Grey Cup with the Blue Bombers.

Prior to Sayles' time in the CFL, he played in the National Football League with the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, and Los Angeles Rams.
