Football: Huskies vs. University of Manitoba Bisons

It was a game under the Friday night lights at Griffiths Stadium as the Huskies hosted the only team that was undefeated in the Canada West, the Bisons.

After a pair of safeties by the Huskies in the first quarter to give them a 4-0 lead, the home team kicked it into high gear. The games first touchdown came early in the second quarter on a one-yard run from Ryker Frank. That was followed by an 86-yard touchdown pass, Anton Amundrud to Dawson Lennae. Later a six-yard pass from Amundrud to Branson Pipko gave the Huskies a 28-3 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, Lucas Scott booted a pair of field goals, he had three in the game, to make it 34-10 heading into the final quarter. And in the fourth quarter, Frank broke free for his second touchdown of the game, this one a 55-yard major. The Huskies win this one 42-24 to remain undefeated at home.

Some big individual numbers in this one. Amundrud had a very accurate day, finishing 23-of-28 for 298 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Frank had 166 yards rushing while Lennae had 162 yards receiving.

Next week everyone in the Canada West is off with a bye week for Canadian Thanksgiving. The following week the Huskies host their provincial rivals, the University of Regina Rams on Saturday October 19. Kick off is at 1 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium.

Women's soccer: Huskies vs. University of Calgary Dinos

The Huskies women's soccer team played to its third tie of the season on Saturday as Saskatchewan hosted the Dinos.

Marie Kilcher scored her fourth goal of the year and Calgary had Isabella Burtini score her second of the season as this one ended in a 1-1 draw.

With the tie, the Huskies record improved to 4-2-3.

Men's soccer: Huskies vs. University of Lethbridge Pronghorns

The men's soccer team also earned a single point with a tie on Saturday, but this one featured no scoring as 0-0 was the final. With the tie, the Huskies record improves to 3-8-1 this year. Saskatchewan will enjoy some time off before resuming their schedule on Friday, October 18 when the Huskies host the Mount Royal Cougars at 7 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium.

Women's soccer: Huskies vs. University of Lethbridge Pronghorns

They say, you want to finish strong and the Huskies women's soccer team did that on Sunday. Saskatchewan blasted the Pronghorns 7-0 to improve to 5-2-3. The Huskies had three goals from Alyssa D'Angnone to give her nine this season, Cheyenne Lehman had a pair and Taryn Izsak as well as Kieran McKercher had singles to give the Huskies the lopsided victory.

Next weekend the Huskies and their provincial rivals, the University of Regina Cougars play one another in a home-an-home series which is also part of the U-Prairie Challenge. Friday Saskatchewan hosts the Cougars at 7p.m. at Griffiths Stadium. Saturday they face one another in the Queen City at 7 p.m. at the University of Regina Field.
