Melville Millionaires capture Saturday matinee in convincing effort on home ice

RED WINGS 1, MILLIONAIRES 5

Brendan Olson and captain Matt Kjemhus each scored twice as the Melville Millionaires earned their 30th win of the season after a 5-1 victory over the Viterra-division leading Weyburn Red Wings on Saturday.

William Forsberg also scored for the Millionaires who got a 24 save performance from Nick Genette in the win.

Cyprus Smith-Davis scored the lone goal for the Red Wings, who now sit just two points up on Yorkton for the division lead.

The Millionaires, who are also three points back of Yorkton for fourth place, will host the Terriers for a regular-season home and home starting next Friday in Melville.

BRUINS 4, TERRIERS 5

The Yorkton Terriers snapped their five game skid in comeback fashion after a 5-4 victory on Saturday over the Estevan Bruins.

David Coyle (1G 3A) and Jaron Desnoyers (2G 2A) led the way for the Terriers with four points each while Vinay Junek & Riley Cormier also scored.

The Bruins were led by Rorey Elson who chipped in with two goals and one assists while Kaelan Whittingham and Luke Hogan chipped in with singles.

Callum Creig stopped 18 of 22 shots to earn the win in the Terriers goal, while Bruins AP Luke Norman made 25 saves in the loss, his second straight start.
