USask alum and former Huskie track and field star Michelle Harrison will compete in the Paris Olympics.

Michelle Harrison has booked a trip to Paris.

The 31 year old will be making her first appearance at track and field’s grandest stage in less than a month, when she competes in the 100 metre hurdles.

The Saskatoon native and Evan Hardy grad competed for the U of S Huskies and continued to compete on the international stage, holding out hope that an Olympics would be in her future.

"I am super excited for the upcoming Olympic games. Making it feels extra special because I was able to achieve it while training at home in Saskatchewan. with the support of my friends and family, I've overcome many hurdles (literally and figuratively), and I'm incredibly proud and excited to represent my country. I am ready to embrace every moment and compete among the best."

After competing with the Huskies at the USports level, Harrison continued to train with Huskies Track and Field Head Coach Jason Reindl (who is regarded as one of the best track and field coaches in the country), and he, too, is on his way to the Olympics in Paris, France.

"The Olympics is the pinnacle of the track and field world, and to be there with Michelle is amazing. It's been such a journey working with her for the past seven years and for us to both be in Paris is going to be a very special moment. She has prepared well and I am excited to see her compete against the best on the planet."

Michelle Harrison's first day of competition will be towards the end of the games on Aug. 7.

The Olympics run from July 26 to Aug. 11.
