The fire, which affected the red-roofed facilities in the photo, primarily the building on the left, hasn't caused the golf course to be closed.

CANDLE LAKE - Despite fire damage to a significant portion of its main building, Candle Lake Golf Resort is still open to play.

In a release issued Monday, golfers were invited to visit the resort and support the community reeling from the devastating fire. The 18-hole course is friendly to any skill level, according to its website.

The release said the incident occurred just after midnight Sept. 23, resulting in significant damage to portions of the main building, which housed the restaurant, retail store, coffee shop and administration offices.

Damage to the conference centre is being assessed, but townhouses, cabins and the RV park were not affected.

The release, issued from Globex Management, stated, “Candle Lake Golf Resort is a pillar of our community. The resort is committed to rebuilding and returning stronger than ever.”

The release added the situation is still unfolding. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
