Hockey Canada has announced their roster for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Ottawa.

Four Saskatchewan-born players were named to the roster assembled by General Manager Peter Anholt, who hails from Naicam, Saskatchewan.

Saskatoon’s Brayden Yager is returning to the tournament, looking to avenge 2024’s loss to Czechia in the quarter-final. The former captain of the Moose Jaw Warriors is one of four players returning from last year’s team.

Fellow Saskatonians Berkly Catton and Caden Price will join Yager plus Prince Albert’s Tanner Howe, who started the WHL season as the captain of the Regina Pats.

The other Saskatchewan player on the team is Saskatoon Blades defenceman Tanner Molendyk, who cracked the roster last season but had to miss the entire tournament after sustaining an injury in pre-tournament play.

In a statement, Anholt said, “We are excited to unveil the 25 players who have earned the opportunity to represent Canada at the World Juniors, as we believe we have assembled a competitive and talented roster that will give us the best opportunity to win a gold medal on home ice,”

Canada will open the tournament on Boxing Day when they take on Finland.
