The father-daughter team of Alex and Watne Schmidt captured the 2024 Saskatchewan Golf Mixed Championship on the weekend at the Kenosee Golf Club. The duo held off Lorie Boyle and Carson Harcourt to win on the first playoff hole after rounds of 66-74.
"It was a privilege to play with my daughter," said the 54-year-old Schmidt, who mentioned the team's second-place finish last year. He added, "It is a great event that Golf Sask. puts on with husband-and-wife teams, friends, mothers and sons, and fathers and daughters."
Alex Schmidt, 24, just finished her college career at Lewis-Clark College in Lewiston, Idaho, and was the runner-up in this year's Saskatchewan Amateur Women's Championship in July.
