Canadian linebacker Nick Wiebe is set to make his debut for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Banjo Bowl.

The Okotoks, Alta. native suffered a torn ACL during the Hardy Cup playoffs in 2023 and he's rehabbed to be fully healthy.

Wiebe made 199 defensive tackles, six tackles for loss, five sacks, three forced fumbles and one pass knockdown over 31 career games at the University of Saskatchewan. He was named a second-team U Sports All-Canadian last year as well as a Canada West all-star and Canada West Defensive Player of the Year.

Before transferring to Saskatchewan, Wiebe played at the University of Oregon and was named the team’s Special Teams Player of the Year in 2020. He was selected by the Riders in the second-round, 12th overall during the 2024 CFL Draft.

Canadian offensive linemen Peter Godber (ankle) and Zack Fry (elbow) have been put on the six-game injured list along with rookie receiver Dohnte Meyers due to a shoulder injury. Noah Zerr makes his first CFL start at left guard, Nick Jones comes back on the roster at right guard and Brayden Noll dresses as the sixth offensive linemen. Ajou Ajou takes the open starting spot among the pass catchers while Dhel Duncan-Busby comes on the roster as a backup.

Defensive back Jaxon Ford plays his first game in 2024 following recovering from a wrist injury. Canadian linebacker Melique Straker has been added to the six-game injured list (hip) as national defensive back Kosi Onyeka goes back down to the practice roster.
