Yorkton Terriers earn sixth win after rebounding with home win over the Nipawin Hawks

Terriers return to win column while Millionaires fall on the road

HAWKS 1, TERRIERS 3

The Yorkton Terriers secured their sixth win of the season on Friday night with a 3-1 victory over the Nipawin Hawks at Westland Insurance Arena.

Dustin Renas and Thierry Laliberte scored early goals for the Terriers, giving their team a two-goal lead before Eric Hoiness got the Hawks on the scoreboard just past the halfway point of the second period.

Jye Zawatzky clinched the game with an empty-net goal, his third of the season, in the final minute of the third period.

Callum Creig made 25 saves on 26 shots in the Terriers' net to earn his second win of the season, while Hawks netminder Gage Roberts made 32 stops in the losing effort.

The Terriers return to action on Saturday night, visiting the Weyburn Red Wings at Crescent Point Place.

MILLIONAIRES 1, ICE WOLVES 4

The Melville Millionaires surrendered three goals in the second period and suffering their third consecutive 4-1 loss on the road against the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

The Wolves took an early lead with Rylan Silzer scoring in the opening minute. Zane Normand, Hudson Cameron, and Michael Kim extended the lead in the second period.

The Millionaires managed to get on the scoreboard in the third period with a goal from Boston Harkness, but that was as close as they would come.

Graham Brown was a standout performer, making 45 saves on 46 shots to secure the win for the Ice Wolves.

On the other side, the Mils' goalie Nick Genette faced a challenging night, allowing four goals on 15 shots before Loic Morin took over and stopped all nine shots he encountered in relief.

The two teams are set to face off again on Saturday in La Ronge.
