Jaxson Ruthven netted the hat-trick to lead the hometown Weyburn Red Wings to their third straight win, a 7-4 decision over the Yorkton Terriers on Wednesday night.
Blake Betson, Liam Fitzgerald, Luke DeKay and Cyprus Smith-Davis also scored for the Red Wings who got 41 saves on 45 shots to earn his 15th win of the season.
Keenan Ingram replied with two goals for the Terriers including his league-leading 23rd of the season, while Tyler Palin also scored.
Terriers’ netminder Callum Creig made 28 stops in the loss.
The Red Wings now sit just one point back of Yorkton for the Viterra division lead.
Yorkton returns to action on Saturday night visiting the Melfort Mustangs before hosting the Battlefords North Stars for a matinee on Sunday.
