Three overtime games headline Wednesday slate in SJHL playoffs

Three first round series could wrap up on Friday night with Game 5's

TERRIERS 2, MILLIONAIRES 1

Callum Creig stopped 32 shots in his 1st career SJHL playoffs to lead the Yorkton Terriers to a 2-1 victory over the Melville Millionaires to take a 3-1 series lead in their first round matchup.

Carter Briltz and David Coyle scored to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead before Jadon Iyogun cut into their lead for Melville late but that’s as close as they got.

The Terriers head back home to Yorkton for Game 5 on Friday night starting at 7:00 PM from the Westland Arena.


BOMBERS 3, BRONCOS 4 (OT)

For the second straight night the Humboldt Broncos and Flin Flon Bombers needed extra time & for the second straight game the home team prevailed.

Kye Benoche scored 17:19 into the first overtime to lead the Broncos to a 4-3 win over the Bombers on Wednesday night.

Dazza Mitchell once again was incredible stopping 57 of 60 shots in the Broncos net.

The series is tied 2-2 with Game 5 set for Saturday n Flin Flon.


MUSTANGS 2, KLIPPERS 3 (OT)

Shayne Tibbles scored 5:17 into overtime to help the Kindersley Klippers stave off elimination, defeating the Melfort Mustangs 3-2 in Game 4.

Klippers netminder Cody Kaman made 38 saves on 40 shots in the win, and they’ll visit the Melfort Mustangs for Game 5 on Saturday night back at the Palace.

The Klippers trailed 2-0 heading into the third period.


RED WINGS 3, NORTH STARS 2 (OT)

Justen Maric stopped 44 of 47 shots for the Battlefords but it wasn’t enough as they dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Weyburn Red Wings.

Liam Fitzgerald scored for the game winner in the extra time for the Red Wings, who’ll have a chance to advance to round 2 with a win on home ice on Saturday night.

Red Wing netminder Angelo Zol made 29 saves on 31 shots in the victory.
