All twelve clubs in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League have now played two games in the 2024/25 regular season.

The SportsCage SJHL Power Rankings are created by having contributors independently rank each team from No. 1 to No. 12, then averaging out the scores.

1. Melfort Mustangs

The defending champions resumed their dominance with two impressive victories on the opening weekend, highlighted by a commanding 6-2 triumph over the Flin Flon Bombers on home ice in a Canterra Seeds Cup rematch.

2. Humboldt Broncos

The Broncos expressed their dominance in their two opening weekend victories over the Notre Dame Hounds under new Head Coach and GM Brayden Klimosko scoring thirteen goals in two games while getting solid netminding from 20 year old Quebec product Eduoard Gauthier.

3. Melville Millionaires

The Moneymen completed the weekend sweep of their Viterra Division Bruins, holding on for a road victory on Friday before hammering Estevan in their home opener on Saturday.Going 4/12 on power play and 90% on penalty kill helps, plus a top-line duo is developing in Rail City.

4. Yorkton Terriers

The Terriers' high-flying offence was on full display in their two opening weekend wins over Weyburn, netting a combined 11 goals. Their top line of Leonard, Hammond, and Desnoyers contributed eight of those goals.

Top Weekly Scorers: Jeff Hammond and Jaron Desnoyers - 8 points

5. Kindersley Klippers

After dropping five of six games against the Battlefords last season, the Klippers got a bit of revenge to start this season with back-to-back victories. Brett O’Halloran was solid between the pipes, allowing five goals on 69 shots.

6. Flin Flon Bombers

The Bombers took care of business at home vs. the Hawks in their home opener. However, the very next night in Melfort, they struggled to generate any offense in the finals rematch on the road.

7. La Ronge Ice Wolves

Securing three out of a possible four points against last year's finalists is a pretty solid opening weekend for the younger Ice Wolves squad.

They nearly clinched it on opening night at home before sealing a big road win at the Cage on Saturday

8. Weyburn Red Wings

The Red Wings had an opening weekend to forget, losing two games to their divisional rivals and conceding eleven goals. This performance was unexpected, especially with the talented duo of Dazza Mitchell and Angelo Zol between the pipes.

Top Weekly Scorers: Blake Betson, Lucas Schmid, Cyprus Smith Davis and Liam Fitzgerald - 2 points

9. Battlefords North Stars

The revamped North Stars fell short in their opening two games under new Head Coach/GM Garry Childerhouse, losing to Kindersley. On a brighter note, early offensive contributions from veterans Jackson Allan and Elijah Anderson are promising signs.

10. Nipawin Hawks

The young Hawks nearly clinched a point at the Whitney Forum, driven by an outstanding goaltending performance from Tyson Endall. They then put up a valiant fight in a home loss to La Ronge. Expect the Hawks to remain a formidable opponent each night, especially at the Cage.

Top Weekly Scorers: Jack Janzen, Finley Radloff and Will Whitter - 3 points

11. Estevan Bruins

Growing pains were anticipated with many fresh faces in the Bruins' lineup, and they certainly felt that during the opening weekend. To achieve more success, the team needs more consistent play, especially on the defensive side, which will also provide better support for their netminders.

Top Weekly Scorer: Rorey Elson - 2 points

12. Notre Dame Hounds

The Hounds faced our top-ranked preseason team in their first two games, dropping both and conceding 13 goals and 97 shots. They aim to bounce back next weekend against the Mils. Ian Buors showed some upside offensively for a very young Hounds team.
