The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League postseason will kick-off this weekend with four quarter-final series.
The top-ranked and defending champion Melfort Mustangs will take on the eighth-seeded Kindersley Klippers, who were the final team to clinch a playoff spot after holding off a late charge from the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
These two teams last met in the postseason back in 2019.
In the two vs. seven matchup it features the Flin Flon Bombers, still looking for that first SJHL title since 1993, they’ll battle the Humboldt Broncos for the third time in the last four years.
The Bombers have won the previous three matchups in the playoffs.
The Weyburn Red Wings, who captured their first Viterra division title since 2016, will battle the Battlefords North Stars.
The North Stars won the last playoff meeting between the two clubs in five games in 2023.
The final match-up might be one of the most intriguing and heated, as two teams separated by just 43 kilometers will meet, as the Melville Millionaires take on their Highway 10 rivals, the Yorkton Terriers.
This will be the 12th ever meeting between the two teams and the first one since 2014, when the Terriers swept the Moneymen in the League Final ahead of capturing the National title.
All series will most likely begin on Friday in Melfort, Flin Flon, Weyburn and Yorkton respectively.
