Flurry of deals headlines 2025 SJHL trade deadline day

The January 10th Trade Deadline has come and passed as Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League clubs had until 5:00 PM on Friday to complete trade across the CJHL.

The Kindersley Klippers and Flin Flon Bombers landed the biggest targets of the day as the Bombers acquired 20 year old defenceman Liam Hunks from the Notre Dame Hounds, while Klippers added 20 year old forward and former number 1 overall pick Mason Bueckert from La Ronge.

Bueckert has 31 points in 34 games this season with the Ice Wolves.

Meanwhile Hunks is third amongst blue liners scoring with 24 points through 31 games.

For the Humboldt Broncos, they added some experience bringing in Estevan Bruins captain and 20 year old Cade Kennedy and 20 year old defenceman Liam Rodman in a three-way-deal with the Melville Millionaires and the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL.

The Melville Millionaires (SJHL) trade F Peyton Allard ('06) to the Notre Dame Hounds (SJHL) for a player development fee.

The Winnipeg product had one goal in 22 games with the Moneymen this season.

The Millionaires also acquired F Devon Winder (‘06) & D Louis Nadeau (‘06) for a player development fee. 

Winder who hails from Calgary had seven goals, three assist for 10 points in 30 games, while Nadeau (Levis, Quebec) chipped in seven points in 29 games 

The Moneymen traded the rights to D Eric Johnston ('04) to the Weyburn Red Wings (SJHL) for the rights to F Connor Gabriel ('05) and futures.

Johnston was just acquired by the Moose Jaw Warriors, while Gabriel is a member of the WHL's Swift Current Broncos.

Melville also announced the signing of 2005-born forward Jett Fogle.

Fogle hasn’t played a game in 2024/25, but last season the 6 '3” forward had three points in 25 games with the AJHL’s Grande Prairie Storm.
