Riders can 'send a message' to B.C. Lions about playing at Mosaic Stadium: Darian Durant

Darian Durant vs. BC Lions

It's likely the B.C. Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders meet in the Western Semi-Final. If the Riders win on Saturday, the Green and White earn the right to host that playoff game.

"What better way to send a message to a team you're probably going to see in that first round then to show them you guys don't want to come out here and play," Darian Durant told SportsCage host Barney Shynkaruk.

"We know how tough Mosaic is but then you add the weather to an indoor team and a team that's not used to these elements -- you send that message. This is what it's all about. This is a perfect opportunity for the Riders to do that."

B.C. enters Week 19 with an 8-8 record and 16 points, third place in the West Division. Saskatchewan has an 8-7-1 mark with 17 points, second place in the West Division. The Lions host Montreal in Week 20 and end the season with a bye week. While the Roughriders have a bye week followed by hosting the Calgary Stampeders in Week 21, the final week of the regular season.

"Whatever it takes to win. You can't hold anything back. You don't want to risk having to go out to B.C. to play that playoff game," Durant said. "You want to make sure you can lock it in, secure it. Empty the holster, let all the bullets fly. This is the game to make sure that you don't hold anything back."

Saskatchewan hosts the B.C. Lions on Saturday afternoon at Mosaic Stadium. Countdown to Kick-off begins with a chance to watch Justin Dunk and Wes Cates live at 2 p.m. on YouTube. Dave Thomas and Luc Mullinder join at 4 p.m. with the kick-off to follow at 5 p.m. on the Co-operators Roughrider Radio Network.
