Saskatchewan offensive linemen Peter Godber and Zach Fry are out for the Banjo Bowl in Winnipeg.
Riders head coach Corey Mace was unsure regarding Godber’s injury timeline. The six-foot-three, 304-pound blocker limped off the field during the 59th Labour Day Classic with an ankle injury.
"The bye week coming up is going to be good for him," Mace said. "It's looking a little tough for Peter, we don't have it dialed as far as total timeline. It's going to be a little tough with our short turnaround here. This week is going to be a little tough for Peter to get in.”
Mace ruled out Zach Fry for the game against the Blue Bombers. Fry was seen on the sideline with a sling when he left the game and he was designated with an elbow injury.
"Physical sport, unfortunately things happen. The next guy has gotta step up,” Mace said. "The reality of what it is, the game's still gotta be played and we gotta show up and we gotta go try to get a win.”
Rider Radio play-by-play man Dave Thomas reported the new lineup, including Nick Jones at right guard, Noah Zerr at left guard, and Logan Ferland moving to centre. Ferland has been a versatile piece on the offensive line this season.
"He's played guard, he's played tackle, he's played centre and he's about to play some more most likely and he does it at a high level. Once Yoshi went down, Ferland had to take on that leadership role in that room,” Mace said.
Zerr will make his first start and Mace has faith in him because he impressed him during their last game against Winnipeg on Labour Day weekend.
"He certainly wasn't ready when he had to get thrown into the game last week and he played fairly well," Mace described.
"We're excited for Noah to go out there and play our brand of football."
